Water Treatment Answers is a free service that connects homeowners with local water treatment and filtration companies. We are not a water-treatment company or installer, and we do not perform the work ourselves.
Shock chlorination adds a strong chlorine solution to a well to kill bacteria after a positive coliform test, a repair, or a new install. You circulate it through the system, let it sit, then flush it out and retest. It is a one-time disinfection, not ongoing treatment, so recurring bacteria usually means adding UV.
