Water Treatment in Ohio

In Ohio, public water systems are regulated by the Ohio EPA, with private wells overseen by the Ohio Department of Health under the federal Safe Drinking Water Act, and utilities must publish an annual water-quality report. Groundwater across much of Ohio is hard, and sulfur odor and iron are frequent private-well issues. Private wells are not covered by those federal rules, so the EPA and CDC recommend testing your own water at least once a year.
