Water Treatment in Texas

In Texas, public water systems are regulated by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) under the federal Safe Drinking Water Act, and utilities must publish an annual water-quality report. Groundwater across much of Texas is hard to very hard, and the state has one of the largest numbers of households on private wells. Private wells are not covered by those federal rules, so the EPA and CDC recommend testing your own water at least once a year.
